Beyond Florals: Masculine Card Inspiration | Kathleen Schmelz

Hi friends! Kathleen here, and today I’m sharing some inspiration for a clean, geometric card with a more masculine feel. While I personally have no problem creating floral cards full of glitter and pink for the guys in my life, I know many crafters like to have options that lean a little more traditionally masculine.

How to recreate this card:

1. Card Base: Create an A2 card base (top or side-folding) from white cardstock.
   
2. Paper Strips:
   1. Cut (4) thin paper strips (approx. 1/8" x 4 1/2"): 3 white cardstock & 1 Silver Glitter Cardstock.
   2. Color the white strips with Stargazer, Mermaid Cove, and Licorice by swiping the ink pads across.
   3. With the card base oriented vertically, adhere the strips diagonally across the center, alternating the colored and glitter strips as desired.
3. Die cut the Starry Scallops coverplate from an A2 panel of white cardstock, trim off approx. 1/4" on each side & adhere centered onto the card base using foam adhesive.
   
4. Mark the Moment:
   1. Ink blend the hexagon shape from Stencil 1 on white cardstock using Mint & Sky Blue.
   2. Ink blend the mountains onto the hexagon with Rocky Slope.
   3. Stamp the tress in the center with Emerald City.
   4. Ink blend the bike with Rocky Slope on a separate piece of white cardstock.
   5. Ink blend a thin wavy banner with Seaside on a separate piece of white cardstock, then stamp "Never Stop.." in Detail Black onto it.
   6. Die cut all the pieces (hexagon, bike, banner) and assemble as shown in the photo. Adhere the assembled piece centered onto the card front using foam adhesive.
      
5. Sentiment:
   1. Stamp "Keep Moving..." in Detail Black on white cardstock.
   2. Die cut & adhere offset onto a blank layer die-cut from Midnight Navy Glitter Cardstock.
   3. Adhere below the bade element on the card front.
      
6. Embellish to your liking. I used Metallic Pearls in Silver to stay within the cool, masculine color scheme.

I love how this card turned out, and I hope I've shared a few ideas you can use when creating cards for the men in your life. I also wanted to show that you don't have to shy away from glitter cardstock or shiny embellishments! When used thoughtfully, they can add interest and texture while still keeping a card masculine.
