A Balanced Design with Diagonal Strips & Florals | Eva Pizarro

Hi everyone! This is Eva here, and today I’m sharing a new layout featuring a diagonal strip design that adds movement and interest to the page.

For this project, I worked with the Crafted Moments collection, I especially loved using the purple florals to bring everything together and create a harmonious look throughout the layout.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Cut several strips of patterned paper, each about 4 cm wide.
2. Arrange the strips diagonally across your page. Start by placing two central strips that run across the full layout—these will act as your base.
3. Add shorter strips on each side of the central ones. Don’t feel the need to cover the entire background—leaving some open space will make your design feel lighter.
4. Adhere all the strips in place, making sure to keep the diagonal flow consistent.
5. Add floral clusters at the top and bottom of the page, tucking some of the flowers slightly under the strips for added dimension.
6. Place your photo to one side of the layout and create clusters on both sides of it to balance the composition and highlight your focal point.
7. Finish by adding embellishments, chipboard stickers and enamel dots. Keep your color palette consistent—I chose purple florals to create continuity across the page.

Tip: When working with strong diagonal elements, try to mix full-length and shorter strips instead of making everything the same. That small variation adds movement and keeps the layout from feeling too rigid.
