Layered Bloom & Buds with Curved Petals | TaeEun Yoo

Hello everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start! It’s TaeEun here today with a soft floral card featuring the beautiful Bloom & Buds product suite from the Sunlit Manor Release. For this design, I layered two colored floral images and gently curved the petals of the top layer. I love how the gently curved petals and leaves give the flower such a soft dimensional look, almost as if it is lifting off the card :) .

Here is how I made the card.

1. Hot foil the Bloom & Buds image in gold.
2. Color the image using the coordinating stencils in the following colors.
   - Stencil 1: Sunshine, Apricot, Peony
   - Stencil 2: Grassy Knoll, Spanish Moss
   - Stencil 3: Coral Reef
   - Stencil 4: Peony
   - Stencil 5: Bay Leaf, Grassy Knoll
3. Die cut the image using the coordinating die.
4. Press the Bloom & Buds image onto an A2 sized white panel using the Press Plate, inking the flowers in Coral Reef and the rest in Grassy Knoll.
5. Stencil the pressed image in the same colors listed above and die cut it.
6. Lightly ink blend the surrounding area of the image opening on the negative die cut panel in Coral Reef and Bay Leaf.
7. Dry emboss the negative panel using the Lattice Glow coverplate die.
8. Adhere the dry embossed negative panel onto a white cardbase and inlay the pressed and stenciled image back into its place.
9. Add the gold hot foiled flower over the floral image in the background using foam tape, after gently curving the petals and leaves for a dimensional look.
10. Hot foil the sentiment from the Bloom & Buds Press Plate set in gold and die cut it.
11. Add the sentiment to the card using foam tape.
12. Finish the card with a few Butterscotch Glitter Drops.

TIPS: It’s a great way to add interest to a floral card by layering similarly colored images with foam tape for extra dimension. The lower layer peeking out from behind adds depth and feels like a beautiful little surprise. Gently curving the petals and leaves also makes a big difference, because it gives the flower a softer and more natural 3D look. These small details help bring the focal image to life without making the design feel too heavy.
