Ordinary Joys Layout with a Giant Geotag | Susi Becerra

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing a new 12 x 12 layout created with the beautiful Ordinary Joys collection from Pinkfresh Studio. For this project, I wanted to create  a fun design using a geotag shape as the main element , inspired by the chipboard embellishment used for the title.

I used the 6 x 8 paper pad to build the geotag shape, combining different patterned papers to create a soft and cozy color palette around my photo. To add extra texture and a handmade touch I also included hand stitching around the entire shape.

Step by Step Instructions

1. Create the geotag shape: Start with a piece of white cardstock and draw a large circle using a compass. Then, modify the bottom part of the shape by creating a pointed end to transform it into a geotag shape. Once you are happy with the shape cut it out. This will be the main base of your layout.
2. Fill the geotag with patterned papers. Choose your favorite papers from the Ordinary Joys 6 x 8 paper pad and cut pieces to cover the inside of the geotag shape.
3. Add the circular photo. Cut your photo in a circular format using the Double Stitched Circle Die and place it in the center of the geotag. This creates the perfect focal point and reinforce the idea of marking a special place or memory.
4. Add hand stitching. To highlight the shape, stitch around the outside edge of the geotag using embroidery thread. 
5. Decorate the geotag. Now it's time for the fun part! Add embellishments from the ordinary Joys collection around the photo and throughout the design. I created small clusters with houses, books, labels and phrases to reinforce the feeling of home and every day memories.
6. Final touches. Finish the layout by adding enamel dots from the collection. These little touches help balance the page and add extra dimension.

TIP: If you want to create a similar design, don't limit yourself to a geotag shape. You can use this same idea with circles, hearts, tags or any shape that has a special meaning for your story.

I hope this project inspires you to look at your patterned papers in a new way and create a layout that celebrates those little places and moments that mean so much.
