Transforming Circular Designs into Dynamic Layouts | Eva Pizarro

Hi everyone! This is Eva here, and today I’m sharing a layout focused on deconstructing a patterned paper design to create a completely new composition.

For this project, I used the Fresh Start collection and began with a paper featuring a circular, multi-colored design divided into sections—almost like a color wheel. Instead of using it as is, I broke it apart to build a soft, flowing path across the page.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Start with a patterned paper that has a strong graphic design—in this case, a circular pattern divided into color sections.
2. Cut two curved sections from the circle, approximately 2 inches wide. These will be the base of your new design.
3. Separate the color sections and begin rearranging them. Rotate and shift the pieces to form a continuous path across your layout instead of a closed circle.
   
4. Adhere the sections onto your background, leaving open space in the center to enhance the sense of movement and keep the design light.
5. Place your photo along the path, using it as a focal point within the composition.
6. Embellish along the path using a tone-on-tone approach. Use Chipboard stickers, enamel dots and small items to add interest to the path. 

Tip: Try looking at your patterned papers as a starting point rather than a fixed design. Cutting them apart and reworking their shapes can open up completely new composition possibilities.
